CLEAR LAKE - Lorraine F. Buck, "39", of 1110 N. Fifth St., Clear Lake, died Friday (May 4, 2001) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Galilean Lutheran Church, 4454 255th St., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Peter Narum officiating. Inurnment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Memorials in Lorraine's memory may be given to Hospice of North Iowa, or SafePlace, P.O. Box 19454, Austin, TX 78760.
Lorraine was born Dec. 26, 1924, at Ft. Dodge, a daughter of Hugh and Anna (Thomas) Carlson. Following her graduation from Ft. Dodge High School, she married Donald Buck on May 24, 1945, at Ft. Dodge. Moving to Clear Lake in 1949, Lorraine worked at the state liquor store, Clear Lake, for many years and part-time at the Sale Barn, Garner. Her memberships included Keynotes, Beta Sigma Phi, Zion Lutheran Church, Galilean Lutheran Church and Bridge Club, all of Clear Lake.
Survivors include one granddaughter, Melonie Allyn-Schwerin and her husband, Jason, Austin, Texas; one great-granddaughter, Andrea Allyn-Schwerin, Austin, Texas; one brother, Roger Carlson, Albuquerque, N. M.; and an honorary granddaughter, Krista Hoppe, Lake Mills.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Roy; a daughter, Kate Harrison; and a brother, Hugh "Fudd" Carlson, Jr.
Those planning to attend the service are requested to wear bright colored articles of clothing.
