Ethel May (Smith) Brenner, 101, of Adrian, died Friday, June 4, 2010, in Armstrong County Health Center, Kittanning. She was born April 6, 1909, in Chicasha, Okla., a daughter of the late Harvey J. Smith and Estella Ann (Cloe) Smith-Nehr. She spent the past 14 years living with her son in Adrian. She was a homemaker and a member of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, Manhattan Beach, Calif., and Montgomeryville Baptist Church, Adrian. Ethel liked going out for dinner, crocheting, playing bingo and talking to her friends and family and especially receiving visits from family and friends. Survivors include her daughter, Wanda Gail (Charles) Zimmer, of Guys Mills, Pa.; son, Norman Lee (Jennetta) Brenner, of Adrian; grandson, Brian (Elizabeth) Brenner, of Stafford, Va.; granddaughters, Dori (John) Bowden, of Lynchburg, Va., and Teri (Ronald) Wolfe, Adrian; sister, Odena (Russ) Engel, of Redding, Calif.; sister-in-law, Marion (Ken) Preston, of Oceanside, Calif.; and great-grandchildren, Aaron Wolfe, Zachary Wolfe, Breann Wolfe, John Douglas Bowden, Andrew Bowden, Hannah Brenner and Caitlyn Brenner. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Orville, June 27, 1982; great-grandson, Jason Paul Hooks, 2003; brothers, William Smith and Charles Nehr; and sisters, Fern Davidson and Edna Tittsworth. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME in Cowansville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor Dan Toy. Interment in Green Hills Cemetery, 27501 S. Western Ave., Rancho Palos Verde Drive North, San Pedro, Calif.
