Cole was the son of Henry (1849-1915) and Charity Williams Horne (1851-1905), and the grandson of Elias J. (1822-1892) and Anna Jane Hayes Horne (?) and Joseph Kinchen (?) and Mary M Allen Williams (1817-1881).

Story:
Cole Horne was in an accident in 1925 along with his wife Lilly Horne, and two of his youngest daughters, Lillie and Clyde. The daughters were 4 and 6 years old at the time. Clyde was asleep in the back seat when a train hit the car in which they were riding and dragged them down the tracks. Clyde remembers being at the hospital in Douglas, GA and seeing nurses in white clothes around her father as he was sitting on the edge of a stretcher-like table. He was bloody from the waist up. The next thing she remembered was that he died a short time later at the hospital.
