Forest City, NC - John Irvin Scruggs died on Tuesday, July 14, 1964 at 12 noon, in the Rutherford Hospital. Retired farmer and son of the late Dixon and Matilda Bland Scruggs. Survivors included: sons, Tony, Ben, and Leon Scruggs; daughters, Mrs. James Waldrop, Mrs. C. E. Pittman, Mrs. Thomas Bryant, Mrs. Thomas Bryant, Mrs. Glenn Wright; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. He was 79 years of age at demise with interment in the Adaville Baptist Church Cemetery.
