Hana Kupilikova was born 4 October 1928, in Kout na Sumave, House 67, in the Plizne/Domazlice region of Czechslovakia. During World War II, she met an American pilot, DeOrval Schatz, who was stationed in that area. In 1946, Hana traveled to the United States to marry DeOrval. Three sons were born to this union.
Hana made three trips back to Kout na Sumave to visit her family.
Following a divorce, Hana married Joe Hart.
