Died of TB at his home - 3022 45th Avenue SW in West Seattle. He was serving his first term on the Seattle City Council at the time. Came to Seattle in 1888 and after graduating high school was a motorman for the Seattle Electric (trolley) company. He was later Deputy Comptroller of Seattle then Secretary of the Board of Park Commissioners at a time when Seattle was expanding its public park system. He had two brothers. Frank, was Secretary of the local building trades council and George was the former Mayor of Seattle.
