FUNERAL SERVICES FOR JESSE BELL
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. from the Mansfield Funeral Home for Jesse Bell, 70, who died at his home here Saturday. The Rev. Noble B. Blackman conducted the services.
Mr. Bell had been bedfast for the past year. He was born at Fontanelle, Iowa and moved to Mills County as a small boy.
He was a tinsmith and worked at this trade 59 years. He retired February 9, 1948 when he sold his business to his son, Ross. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Mr. Bell joined the Malvern Volunteer Fire Department December 1, 1898. He was assistant fire chief for 35 years and chief for 5 years.
Mr. Bell is survived by four sons, Ross of Silver city; Gene K. and Herb both of Fresno, California and Frank of Ottumwa; one daughter, Mrs. Edith Powell of Fresno, California; one brother, Sherman of Malvern; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Brewster of Portland, Oregon and Mrs. Edna Carr of Placentin, California; 7 grandchildren.
Burial was in Malvern Cemetery.
