James Kelly died last Wednesday morning after two weeks of a severe attack of dysentery, aged 79 years. Deceased was a native of Argyleshire, Scotland. He came to this country in 1820 and settled in Ohio and remained there for nearly twenty years. He sold his farm there, and came to Boone county, Illinois, and settled in Caledonia on a farm one half mile east of the village. He retired from the farm about eighteen years ago and lived in a comfortable home besides the farm. Mr. Kelley was well known and highly respected by all who knew him. He served the town as assessor for twenty five years. He was an elder of the Presbyterian church at Argyle for the same length of time. His wife died twenty years ago Two daughters and one son are left to mourn the loss of a dear father. The two daughters are married - Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Hanson; son Charles G. Kelly. All were with him in his last sickness. The family have the sympathy of the community in their sad bereavement. The funeral was largely attended. The procession that followed his remains to their last resting place was a mile long. The services were conducted by Rev. Alexander at the Willow Creek church.
