Albert Gravley, 83, died early Monday in a local hospital. He had been a resident of Kearney for a number of years.
Albert, son of John and Mary Black Gravely, was born in Raleigh County, West Virginia on June 23, 1871. He was later joined by brothers Charles R., Amos A., and George. The family came to Divide Township, Buffalo County where they engaged in farming.
Albert and Mabel Bishop were married December 27, 1896 in Buffalo County. The young couple farmed a few years and then moved to the new little village of Pleasanton where Albert built Gravley's Hotel which also contained a bakery. Besides this business, Albert was also a mechanic and sold automobiles. After the death of Mabel, Albert returned to farming in Collins Township where he lived until retiring to Kearney.
A niece, Mrs. Irene( Ed) Reynolds, of Pleasanton, is the only surviving relative in this area. There are three brothers, Charles and George of Corvallis, Oregon, and Amos of California.
