Mr. Ralston had been a township supervisor the last 19 years and was second in board senority. He was first elected to the board in 1935 and had served as the chairman since 1943.
A Caledonia township Republican precinct committeeman for 10 years, he was chairman of Boone County Republican central committee from 1948-1952 and was alternate district delegate to the national GOP nominating convention in Chicago in 1952.
He was a personal friend of Gov. William G. Stratton and had served as a state department of revenue employee.
Mr. Ralston was born Oct. 10, 1893. He attended Boone county elementary schools, Rockford high school, and Beloit Wis., academy. He never married.
He was member of the Willow Creek Presbyterian church, Argyle.
Surviving are a brother, Benjamin Arthur, Caledonia; and a sister, Mrs. Lorena Pollard, Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Atkins-Johnson funeral home, Belvidere, with Rev. Edwin Oliver officiating. Burial will be in Scottish cemetery, Caledonia township. Friends may call in the funeral home after Sunday noon.
