Alma's parents were Christian Gruschow & Louise Rose, both born in Mecklenburg, Germany and immigrated to Chicago in 1853. She had several brothers & sisters.
She married Charles J. Verell on Oct 19, 1892 in Cook County, IL. They had two daughters, Mrs Myrtle L. Verell (Albert) Schonbeck and Charlotte Verell who died 18 hrs. after birth.
