ALICE GRIFFITHS

Alice Elisabeth

Griffiths

Mrs. Alice Elisabeth (Lesker) Miller Griffiths, age 91, of McMurray, PA, died on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at her daughter's home in Newark, DE.

Mrs. Griffiths was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on June 20, 1918, daughter of the late Emma (Seiferth) and Albert Lesker. She was an avid reader and kept abreast of current events; she loved spirited conversation on any variety of subjects. A devout Steelers and Penquins fan, Mrs. Griffiths truly loved her native Pittsburgh and was very proud of her city and its people. Whether summering at the Chesapeake Bay and feasting on steamed crabs, or hosting the family Christmas and New Year gatherings at her home each year, Mrs. Griffiths found joy in every season and event in her life, sharing good times and celebrations with her beloved family and many dear friends.

She was extremely proud of her three children, each of whom chose a profession that involved helping others, and she instilled in each of them the importance of family and providing a welcoming home.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Regis J. Miller, her second husband, John T. Griffiths, her son, David Miller, and her brother, Albert. She is survived by her children, Chris Exelby (Allen) and John Miller (Debbie); daughter-in-law, Nancy Miller; and grandchildren, Tighe (Erin), Anne (Matthew), Nicholas, Dana, Sara, and Lauren; and great grandson, Jude.

A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, June 12, at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 2900 McMurray Road, McMurray, PA. A memorial service will be announced at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 702 B Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805; or to Angel Acres Horse Haven Rescue, P.O. Box 62, Glenville, PA 17329.
