Chester A. Larson Sr., who was redirected chairman of the Franklin Pierce district school board on March 9, died Wednesday in a Puyallup hospital. He was 61 years old and lived at Rt 13 Box 820 in the Summit district.

Mr. Larson had been active in school affairs for 14 years, first becoming a member of the old Central Avenue school board in 194. He served on that board until the district was consolidated with others in 1949 to form the Franklin Pierce district, at which time he was elected to serve that area. He was a 50 years member of the Parent-Teacher Association.

Mr. Larson was an operating engineer with the Rainier Plywood Union, Franklin Pierce Booster Club and the Daffodil Aerie of the Eagles Lodge of Puyallup.

He was a native of Lake Benton, Minn. and lived in this area for 20 years.

Surviving are his wife, Tella; two daughters, Mrs. Frank (Cheris R.) Hopper of Tacoma and Donna R. of the home; two sons Chester A. Jr of Tacoma and Ross L. of Parkland; his mother, Mrs. Emma Larson of Los Angeles; two sisters, Mrs. Mavis Jordan and Mrs. Aletha Knox, both of Los Angeles; two brothers, Harry F. of Cover Creek and Arthur B, of Huron S>D> and three grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2:30 am Friday at Drivers Mortuary with the Rec A.W. Ramstad officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.

Friends have been invited to contribute to the recently created Chester A. Larson Scholarship Fund at Franklin Pierce High School instead of sending flowers.

Active pallbearers will be Stan Willis, Harold Evans, Lvie Catt, Lawrence Berglund, Jerry Kruger and Gordon Reeze. Honorary pallbearers will be Morris Ford, Edwin Nelson, Andrew Christensen, G.O. Stovner, Olaf Gordahl, Matt Manley, Henry Callin, Cliff Olson, Clarence Ralph, Albert Reins, Orville Weeks, Parry Kaithley, Dave Turnbull, Riley Denton, Hill Woodard, Burt Conrad ad Herbert Olson.
