Buck was born on a farm near Grainola, Oklahoma, the son of John Anderson Weaver and Edith Pricilla Weaver. He was educated in Grainola schools. Growing up, he would hunt and fish around Salt Creek with his brothers.

Buck first married Fleeta Harrold and they had three children. Fleeta died of tuberculosis in 1932. Then he married Theresa Snyder 5 Sept 1933 and they had four children: Frank Lloyd Weaver, Bill Dean Weaver, Boyd Isom Weaver and Bonnie Sue Weaver.

Buck was a farmer and employed by Phillips Petroleum Company. He retired in the late 1960's. Through the years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. His wife Theresa passed from this life in 1981. In his later years, he lived with his daughter, Bonnie and she was his caregiver for seven years. Then he moved to a nursing home in Sedan, Kansas. He died in the Cedar Vale Regional Hospital. Burial was under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel of Shidler, Oklahoma.
