Herbert Eugene "Gene" Fritchey, 86, of Iberia died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at Miller County Care Center at Tuscumbia. HE was born Feb. 17, 1918, in Dixon to George Adam and Velma Young Fritchey. On Sept. 20, 1940, he was married in Iberia to Marie Evelyn Langdon, who died March 12, 1984.

Mr. Fritchey was a driver for Law Oil Company for more than 30 years, logging more than 1,000,000 miles. He retired in 1987. He was a member of the Dixon Assembly of God Church.

Surviving are two sons and their wives, Robert and Judy Fritchey of Henley and Derrell and Laurie Fritchey of Brumley; a daughter and her husband, Carol and Gary Putnam of Henley; three brothers, George Fritchey of Osage Beach, Wayne and Donald Fritchey of Dixon; three sisters, Velma Thompson and Lorene Thompson, both of Dixon, and Betty Davis of Rolla; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Fritchey, Sr.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Funeral home with the Rev. William McGarity officiating. Burial will be in Seaton Cemetery near Dixon. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
