MRS NINA BLOWERS
The funeral for Mrs Nina A Blowers, 59, of 49 Depot Street, was held Sunday at Sprague funeral home with the Rev Stanley E Brown, pastor of United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Campbell Cemetery, Flackville.
Mrs Blowers, widow of Walter Blowers, died at 11.30pm at her home. She had suffered a stroke six years ago and had been in poor health.
Survivors include one son, Albert Redmond, and one daughter Janet Blowers, both of Gouverneur; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs Lorna Almerto of Syracuse and Mrs Vera Bristol od DeKalb Junction; two brothers, Sidney Aldrich, Heuvelton and Lowell Aldrich of Hermon.
She was born 1 March 1909 in the Town of DePeyster, a daughter of Emerson and Janet Morris Aldrich. She attended school at DeKalb Junction and worked as a waitress in Ogdensburg and DeKalb.
She was married to Alton Redmond in 1924. Mr Redmond was a New York Central railroad employee. The couple resided in DeKalb where Mrs Redmond operated two hotels. The marriage ended in divorce.
Mrs Redmond moved to Gouverneur in 1940 and purchased the Marble City Hotel, formerly owned by Joseph Bigness and later Clarence Stearns. She had operated the hotel as Nina's Hotel.
She was married 3 May 1949 to Walter Blowers in St Albans, Vermont. Mrs Blowers a refrigeration serviceman was killed in an automobile accident on 2 Jun 1955.
