TOWNSEND -- Alton Jacob "Jake" Hope, 53, died March 20 at home.
He was a lifelong resident of McIntosh County. He served in the Army and was a commercial fisherman and a welder. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and South Newport Baptist Church.

SURVIVORS: a daughter, Shawn Kelly Hope of Jacksonville, Fla.; his parents, Betty and C.W. Hope of Townsend; his grandparents, Cora and H.W. Wallace of Townsend; three brothers, Mike, Ralph and Henderson Hope, all of Townsend; three sisters, Joyce Farr of Douglasville, and Dedra Iler and Lynn Hope, both of Townsend; and three grandchildren.

FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Wednesday at South Newport Baptist Church, burial in Morgan's Chapel Cemetery with military honors. -Savannah Now, March, 2000
