MRS BLANCHE AKELEY

CHAPMAN, Aug 28 - Mrs. Blanche Akeley, 78, died at a local hospital this morning after a long illness. She was born in Chapman April 26, 1879, the daughter of Worth and Ruth Grendell, and had been a life long resident of Chapman.

Mrs. Akeley was a member of the Mapleton Methodist church, the Women's Society of Christian Service; a 50 year member of the Eureka Grange, a member of the Pomona Grange: the State Grange and the Eastern Star.

Surviving are seven daughters, Mrs. Velda Estabrooks, Dexter, Mrs. Amber Batchelder, Houlton, Mrs. Mary Grendell of Chapman, Mrs. Effie Baird and Mrs. Edith Braley, both of Mapleton, Mrs. Mona McCullough of Caribou, and Mrs. Margaret Mills Hartford, Conn,; 29 grandchildren, 46 peat-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Miles Grendell of Chapman Thursday afternoon and evening.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 o'clock at the Mapleton Methodist church, with the Rev. Travers Smith, pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in the Chapman Cemetery.
