Arthur "Gene" Laster, age 79 of Dallas, TX, passed away June 13, 2010. He was born March 20, 1931, in Cuero, TX, to Allen Osborne Laster and Lou Ella (McDonald) Laster. Mr. Laster proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict and on January 30, 1955, married Mary Lee Ferina in Melville, LA. A graduate of LSU with a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, he worked for both Western Union and Nortel as an electrical engineer until his retirement. Mr. Laster was a member of the Western Union Gulf Region Retiree Assoc.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson: Ryan Pittman; one sister and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held 10:00am,Thursday, June 17, 2010, at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rowlett Chapel. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00pm.
