When a boy, he moved with his parents to Princeton, Kas. where he resided until a young man, at which time he came to the Stuart community, near Lebanon, Kas. where he was employed on a farm until about 1902. At that time he began farming for himself, a vocation he followed the remainder of his life.
On February 14, 1904, he was united in marriage to Nettie May Swallow. To this union were born two sons and one daughter. They lived in the Lebanon community until about 1972 at which time they moved to the Twelve-Mile community, northeast of Portis, Kas. where they lived until moving to their present home on Oak Creek.
C.R., as he was known by his many friends and neighbors, was always ready to lend a helping hand and was very active in community affairs, serving in various offices. He held the office of Township Trustee for many years. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Osborne County Farmers Union Cooperative Assn', during which time he was president of the Board for several years. His loyalty to this office was held in high esteem by all of his co-workers.
He was a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge at Stuart and Lebanon over 50 years, having attained the title of Past Noble Grand and serving as secretary for many years.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his beloved wife, Nettie M., three children, Vernon R., Hartwell Ga., Mona Killenger, Alton, Kas. and Marvin W., Aumsville, Ore. Two sisters, Mae Johnson, Brittian, Okla.; Lillian Johnson, El Reno, Okla. Five grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
A nephew, Ingram Bradley, Miami, Okla. and wife, and a niece, Mrs. Oscar Anderson, Grand Junction, Colo. were the only relatives from a distance, outside of two sons who came for the funeral.
