Margaret Goshio Hanley, 101, of Glassport, died Monday, June 14, 2010, in Cedars Community Hospice in Monroeville. She was born July 15, 1908, to the late Pasquale (Pete) and Rose Franks Goshio. She was a lifelong resident of Glassport. She graduated from St. Peter High School in McKeesport in 1926. She began her working career in 1926 with the 1900 Corporation. She retired from Continental Can Company. She was a member of Queen of the Rosary Catholic Church. Her many activities brought friends and altruistic fulfillment to her life. She had a great interest in the Democratic party and all current events. Her knowledge of political issues was outstanding. She was active throughout her nineties. She lived through 18 presidents. Memberships included the Catholic Daughter of the Americas, UPMC McKeesport Hospital Auxiliary Women's Committee, The Friendship Club, Business and Professional Women's Club, where she was named 1991 Woman of the Year. She held offices in many of the organizations. Her loves included life, people, cards, politics and family as well as healthy eating. The University of Pittsburgh FACETS magazine from the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences profiled her life in recognition of her 100th birthday. She was the beloved wife of the late Angus J. Hanley. She was preceded in death by her sisters Jane (Jack) Jackino, Julia (Jim) Ashton, Ann (Floyd) Oskin, Mary (Jim) Tucker, Edith Goshio, Theresa Reichenbach; and brother George (Pete) Goshio.
