Donald E. Nunamaker, 55, of 595 S. St. Marys St., St Marys died Saturday, June 15, 2002 in Elk Regional Health Center, St. Marys.

He was born Feb. 26, 1947 in Rimersburg to George and Viola (Edinger) Nunamaker.

Mr. Nunamaker was employed at Elk County Heat Treaters and also worked at Stackpole Carbon for more than 18 years.

An Army veteran, he served in Battery A, 28th Battalion, 10th Artillery, 197th Infantry Brigade during the Vietnam Era. He served in Vietnam from August 1967 through August 1968 and finished his military service in Ft. Benning, Ga., where he received an honorable discharge in August 1969.

He was a member of the Queen of the World Church and an active member of the Knights of Columbus, where he was a current director and past Grand Knight, bar manager and past President.

His other memberships included the Elks, CYMA, Eagles, VFW and American Legion.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing horseshoes and golf.

Survivors include four sons, Donald G. Nunamaker and Anthony G. Nunamaker, both of St. Marys, SSgt. Thomas A. Nunamaker of Abilene, Texas and Charles M. Nunamaker of Huntingdon; three daughters, Mrs. Keith (Debra) Manning of St. Marys, Kimberly A. Nunamaker and Mrs. Ritchard (Patricia J.) Wickett, both of Jacksonville, N.C.; six grandchildren; seven brothers, Paul Nunamaker of Auburndale, Fla., Howard Nunamaker of Palatka, Fla., Dave Nunamaker of Kittanning, John Nunamaker of Danville, Harry Nunamaker of Templeton, George Nunamaker of East Lucy, Fla. and Richard Nunamaker of Cochranton; eight sisters, Mrs. Bill (Barb) Buzzard, Shirley McCurdy and Mrs. Sherwood (Helen) Kline, all of Templeton, Mrs. Jack (Judy) Fruehscorfer and Mrs. James (Annie) Corbett, both of Kittanning, Mrs. Dave (Linda) Lash of Adrian, Mrs. Arnold (Betty) Trayor of Weedville and Mrs. Keith (Carol) Lane of Cambridge Springs; several nieces and nephews; and his friend, Brenda Krise of Ridgway.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, M. Louise Nunamaker, whom he married May 31, 1968 and who died Sept. 6, 1992; one brother, Bud Nunamaker; and one sister, Bonnie (Nunamaker) Dryfuess.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys. Burial will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery where a military service will be conducted by the St. Marys Serviceman's Detail. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
