B. E. Borden Sr.

Ordinary - Benjamin Elias Borden Sr., 69, a retired lumberman, died at his home here Friday.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ella Muse Borden of Ordinary; three sons, B. E. Borden Jr. and Carter M. Borden of Ordinary and W. Ray Borden of Richmond; a sister, Mrs. W. C. Armstrong Jr. of Front Royal, J. Homer Borden of Toledo, Ohio, C. Leamond Borden of Arlington and Joseph L. Borden Jr. of Westport, Conn.

Mr. Borden attended Randolph-Macon Academy at Front Royal, came to Gloucester in 1922 and was engaged in the manufacture of barrels.

He was a member of Providence Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for 30 years, was a member of the choir and had served as chairman of the board of deacons. He was a member of Botetourt Lodge 7, AF & AM, for over 40 years and was a past master of the lodge.

He also served as chief forest warden for Gloucester County for a number of years.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Providence Baptist Church, by the Rev. William J. Corey and the Rev. Hammond Robins. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Masonic rites.

The body will be moved from the Hogg Funeral Home and placed in the church at 1 p.m.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be sent to the building fund of Providence Baptist Church.
