Services were held in Olney for John Emmett Birdwell, 83, long time resident of Megargel. He died at the home of his son, Bert F. Birdwell, after being ill for two months.
Birdwell farmed near Megargel since 1907 moving there from Graford, Texas. He had lived in Graford from 1890-1907.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survived by his wife; two sons - Bert F. Birdwell of Corpus Christi and J.L. Birdwell of Megargel; three daughters - Mrs. B.E. Cooper of Olney, Mrs. J.W. Clark of Crane and Mrs. Viola Haden of Dallas; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
