Adelia is the daughter of William Slocum, born about 1810 in Massachusetts, and Sarah M., born abt 1814 in New York or Maryland.

She is the youngest sister of Mary H, born in New York; Henry C, born in Ohio; Emma, born in Kentucky, and Edward, William, Charles, and Susan, all born in Illinois.

She married Charles Loyal Hadley on 10 August 1883 in Douglas county, Oregon. Charles was born in March 1854 in Illinois and died 30 January 1932 in Douglas county, Oregon. They had two children, one died before 1900. Their surviving son is Charles Morton Hadley, born in March 1889.
