Mildred Marie Reece Adkins, 93, a retired nurse and longtime Fort Worth resident, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 12, 2010. Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday, June 19, in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Laurel Land Funeral Home. Mildred was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was kind, thoughtful, deeply spiritual and made the people around her happy. She traveled throughout the United States and other parts of the world during her career and retirement years. Mildred was predeceased by her parents, Paris G. and Liza Perry Reece; husband, John Adkins; brothers, R.D., Paul and Paris; sisters, Vera Lea and Opaline; and grandson, Michael Brewer. Survivors: Son, Ben Adkins of Fort Worth; daughter and son-in-law, Adriane and Joe Brewer of Mansfield; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Kian and Chris Chance of Houston; granddaughter, Kristi Brewer of Fort Worth; great-grandchildren, Courtney Brewer and Garren Brewer of Fort Worth; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jackie and Roy Hughes of Temple and Nelwyn and Frank Jackson of Fort Worth; sister, Ruth Neal of Austin; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
