"Elezabeth" (Elizabeth) Gardner was the wife of Thomas Gardner (sometimes spelled Garner in older records). Their son Tom said n 1880 that both his parents had been born in North Carolina. Elizabeth died here, her husband Thomas (Sr.) moved away after her death it is said to Alabama where he died in 1855. Information from Edith Ann Thrift Mitchel; accourding to her, the "Family story says that this Tom bought the family land in 1825 from a Henry Dupree. Tom came here on an ox cart pulled by two big ox (bulls). He had an orchard."

Tom was 62 in 1850 so he was born about 1788. In 1830 Elizabeth's age was given as "30-39", so she must have been born sometime between 1791-1799 and was somewhat younger than her husband. (so ABOUT 1791! exacte date uncertain!)

Elizabeth and Thomas Gardner were married 4 Mar 1816 in N.C. By 1830, they had 7 children 3 girls and 4 boys. And in 1840 they had 9 children 5 boys and 4 girls. So far only 8 of their children have been found by name; D.H., James, Darling, China, Elizabeth, Catharine or "Katie", Wiliam and Thomas or "Tom" (jr.)and one son whose names is not known at this time.

Her maiden name is not in any family records but has been recently been found in the marriage record. See Source: County Court Recrods - FHL # 0540270 and 0546446-054645
