SUNIGA, JOE JOHN - Rosary will be recited at 8 PM tonight [Monday, 27 Nov 1961] in the chapel of Doughty-Calhoun-O'Meara Mortuary and Mass will be said at 9 AM Tuesday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 601 East California Ave., for Joe John Suniga, 77 [circa 1883], 1203 East 18th St., who died Nov. 25 [1961] in a Bakersfield hospital. Rev. George Reardon will officiate. Interment will follow in the Eagles plot in Union Cemetery, Graveside services of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Bakersfield, Dec 16, 1883. He was a cowboy all of his life and for many years was employed by the Kern County Land Co., He retired 12 years ago. He belonged to the Bakersfield Aerie 93, FOE, and had been a member for 30 years. Survivors include two brothers; Frank [SUNIGA] of Bakersfield and Alex [SUNIGA] of Richmond [CA.];three sisters, Millie [SUNIGA] Teutimez Benjamin "Benny" Teutimez ] of Bakersfield and Margaret [SUNIGA] Stotts and Mary [SUNIGA] Romero of Pittsburgh [CA.]; nieces Loraine McMurry and Ann Fleming of Bakersfield. Pallbearers will be Ernest Suniga, Willie Suniga, Tony Suniga, Paul Romero, Albert Romero and [Benjamin "Bennie" "Jim" A.] Jim Teutimez. [Benjamin "Jim" A. IN LOVING MEMORY OF JOE J. SUNIGA 1883 – 1961, Gentlest Heart of Jesus, ever present in the Blessed Sacrament, ever consumed with burning love for the poor captive souls in Purgatory, have mercy on the soul of Thy departed servant. Be not severe in Thy Judgment but let some drops of Thy precious blood fall upon the devouring flames, and do Thou O merciful Saviour send Thy Angels to conduct Thy departed servant to a place of refreshment, light and peace.
