Sgt. Crotty

Hayes - Retired Army First Sgt. Harold Franklin Crotty, 48, died Sunday at McDonald Army Hospital, Fort Eustis, after a long illness.

He was a member of Providence Baptist Church, where he served on the board of deacons and was a member of the men's Bible class.

He had served as an instructor-supervisor at the Puller Vocational Center at Gloucester.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Shirley Crotty; two daughters, Mrs. Vicky Baker of Gloucester and Mrs. Robyn O'Sullivan of Hampton; a son, Frank Crotty of Hayes; two sisters, Mrs. Madeline Childress of North Fork, W. Va., and Mrs. Una Williams of Beckley, W. Va.; a brother, Bill Crotty of Beckley; his stepfather, Lester Miller of Peterstown, W. Va.; and three grandsons.

A funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. today in Providence Baptist Church by the Rev. William J. Corey. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m.

The family requests expressions of sympathy the the form of contributions to either the building fund or benevolent fund of Providence Baptist Church, Ordinary.
