John L. James, 66, Cape County Farmer Dies; Rites Wednesday
John L. James, 66 years old, a farmer of near Gordonville, died of mesenteric thrombosis at 8 a.m. today at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He had been in ill health about five years and was brought to the hospital at noon Sunday, undergoing an operation.
The body was removed to Seabaugh Funeral Home and will remain there until 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon when it will be taken to Centenary Methodist Church, where funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock by the pastor, Rev. Don E. Schooler. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. James was born in Bollinger County, but had spent most of his life on the farm in this county. He was a member of the Democratic County Committee for several years, and for nine years was on the Campster school board. He was a member of Centenary Church.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mattie James; his mother, Mrs. Polly Harmon of Cape Girardeau; a son, Frank James, and a daughter, Mrs. Earl Priest of Gordonville; a half-brother, C. I. Harmon of Cape Girardeau; three half-sisters, Mrs. Lyman Hayden of Cape Girardeau, Mrs. Otto Miller of Gordonville, and Mrs. Fred Thompson of Illmo, and six grandchildren.
