Roger A. Kammeyer, 75, Toledo, Ohio, died Thursday, June 17, 2010, at the Lutheran Home, Toledo, after a brief illness.

He was born April 7, 1935, in Defiance County, the son of Ernest and Marie (Rettslatt) Kammeyer. Roger graduated from Defiance High School in 1953. He graduated from Indiana Technical College in Fort Wayne with a BS degree in aeronautical engineering in 1956. He worked in the aerospace industry in Huntsville, Alabama, and in Buffalo, N.Y. He was a rocket lab test engineer and worked on the Mercury and Apollo space programs. He later received an AAB degree in computer programming from Northwest State Community College in Archbold, Ohio.

He worked for Martin Diesel for 20 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, sang with the choir and served on the stewardship committee. Roger enjoyed stamp and coin collecting and was an avid fisherman.

Surviving are cousins, Mrs. Sue Palinski, Harold Rettslatt and Ms. Alberta Gillam, plus a host of cousins in Germany.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 21, 2010, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Defiance, with Rev. Wally Seibel officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Defiance.
