In 1963 Jerry graduated San Gabriel High School, San Gabriel, CA

He retired from the United States Navy in June 1995, after having served thirty years, from Viet Nam to Desert Shield.

After retiring he settled in Oklahoma where he worked in Postal Service doing contract mail route in Checotah, Oklahoma for about a year. Then he got an urge to drive a semi, which led Jerry to drive for J.B. Hunt for another year. After the J.B. Hunt experience he went into security work and became Director of Security at Muskogee Regional Medical Center in Muskogee, Oklahoma.

OKTAHA — COPPLE, Jerry, 65, Vescom security guard Georgia-Pacific, died Wednesday. Services 11 a.m. Monday, Oktaha Cemetery, Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home, Muskogee.


MUSKOGEE PHOENIX, 19 Jun 2010 -
Funeral services for Jerry Copple will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 21, 2010 at Oktaha Cemetery with Reverend Ron Lindsey officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home of Muskogee.

Jerry Copple was born October 27, 1944 in Pasadena, CA the son of Cecil and Ethel (Nickerson) Copple and died June 16, 2010 in Oktaha. He married Gwen McGrew December 31, 1981 in Fresno, CA.

He served his country in the United States Navy from August 15, 1965 to September 1, 1995 when he retired with 30 years of service. He received the Navy Commendation, Navy Achievement, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Battle "E" Award, Navy Good Conduct, Navy Expeditionary Award, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Sea Service Ribbons, Republic Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Enlisted Aviator Warfare Specialist Wings.

Mr. Copple was a Security Guard with Vescom Georgia Pacific. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and a granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife, Gwen Copple, of the home; five children, Debra Copple of Walnut, CA, Ambert Hunt of Oktaha, OK, Michael Hargis of Temecula, CA, Micah Scrivner of Fort Worth, TX; Aaron Schafer of Oktaha, OK; grandchildren, Ross Manston, Matthew Todd, Alicia Hedgpeth, Danielle Scrivner, Colton Scrivner and Marie Hargis and great grandchildren, Michael and Jesse Hedgpeth.
