Helen Catherine Graz was born 28 Oct 1926 in Youngstown, OH to Richard Graz and Helen Beatrice Adams Graz, their only child. Before their marriage in January 1926, Richard Graz was Rev. Father Richard Graz O.S.B. in a Roman Catholic order centered at Belmont Abbey, Belmont, NC. Helen was a student of Richard Graz and they determined to marry in spite of his religious vows. However, after the birth of their daughter, Richard had second thoughts about his marriage and absence from the church. In early 1927 they were divorced in Atlanta, GA and Richard returned to the Order of Saint Benedict. Daughter Helen and her mother Helen Beatrice moved in with Helen's parents the Adams family of Charleston, SC. About 1930, Helen Beatrice met a sailor named George Millson and they began a family of their own in Oneida County, NY. Len felt an outsider in this new family. When Len found Jesus in a Baptist religious conversion away from her Roman Catholic roots at the age of 13, she left the Millson household. She lived in the homes of friends, attended college and worked to support herself, typically for the US government and as a Baptist church music director. Len's father died in 1952 and is buried at Belmont Abbey. Helen Beatrice Millson died in 1961 or 1962. Having a large house, Len took in Sunny Lawrence who needed a place to live in the 1970s and the two of them were destined to share their lives together until Len's death in 2008. Len and Sunny loved to travel in their Leisure Travel Van and initiated the Blue Ridge Leisures group of motorhome friends in 2004.

The following obituary summarizes Len's later life. From the 30 Dec 2008 Daily News Record, Harrisonburg, VA. "Helen C.
