CLIFFORD N. SIMMONS, 70, passed away June 18, 2010 at Methodist University Hospital. Mr. Simmons was retired as a pumper driver with the City of Memphis Fire Department after 31 years of service, a member of Local Firefighters Union #1784, a member of Sycamore View Church of Christ, a singer at the Strand Theater, a member of the Tennessee Twisters Line Dancers, and a volunteer entertainer for various local nursing homes, community centers and churches. He leaves his wife of 48 years, Virginia Simmons of Memphis; two daughters, Kelley Simmons-Land and husband Stephen of Fredericksburg, VA and Tracy Simmons-Bliley and husband Jason of Council Bluffs, IA; one brother, Lawrence Simmons of Olive Branch, MS; and one sister, Sybil Pinegar of Southaven, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Lucy Simmons. Visitation will be 5-8 pm on Monday, June 21 and services will be at 10 am on Tuesday, June 22, both at Forest Hill South Funeral Home.
