William Hibben, infant son of I. E. and Hattie Lambert, died Tuesday evening at the family residence at the corner of Fifth avenue and Constitution street, aged 8 months and 14 days. The illness of the tender babe, who has found an enduring release from all pain, covered a period of several weeks during which hope and fear alternated in the hearts of the anxious parents. Yesterday a marked improvement in the condition of the little sufferer was noted, but a sudden relapse in the latter part of the day terminated fatally at about 8 o'clock in the evening.

Thus the death angel ever surmounts all the barriers which love can devise and build to stay his cruel invasions, and wrests from our arms those treasures we fain would shield from every harm, and between whom and pain we interpose all the defenses which human solicitude can suggest for the protection of the objects of our dearest care. And yet, with a faith that mitigates the severity of such grievous dispensations, we instinctively yield to the belief that even the mournful economy of death is not wholly untempered with a kindness which shall be revealed in the fullness of time to all who are called upon to suffer the sorrow of its bereavements.

The funeral took place Tuesday afternoon at 5 o'clock from the family residence.
