Ruth B. Turnbull, age 79, of Weidman, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, August 17, 2008, at Central Michigan Community Hospital in Mt. Pleasant. She was born March 26, 1929 in Lake, (Coldwater Township) to Martin and Maggie (Geasler) Boger. In 1949 Ruth started teaching first grade in Lake Station. Ruth continued her education, working towards a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. During this time Ruth began teaching 1st grade in the Barryton Elementary School. While finishing her degree at CMU, Ruth met her future husband. Ruth married Ralph G. Turnbull on November 23, 1955, in the Weidman Methodist Church. Ruth continued teaching at the Barryton School until 1960, when their first son Robert was born. From 1961 through 1967, Ruth substitute taught in Weidman, Barryton and Remus schools. In 1968 they moved to the Lansing area where Ruth enjoyed raising her two sons and substitute teaching in the Holt and Mason areas. Although Ruth worked on and off during her forty year career; she spent 17 years predominately teaching 1st grade. In 1984 the Turnbull family made Weidman their permanent home. Ruth was an active member of the Weidman United Methodist Church often volunteering to help make clam chowder for the soup suppers and belonged to the church's women's club. She made great pies and was an excellent cook. Ruth loved flowers, the outdoors and the serenity of sitting out on her porch overlooking the water. Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 53 years Ralph of Weidman, Sons; Robert Turnbull of Holland and Timothy Turnbull of Weidman, Sisters; Virginia (Harry) Herman of Lake and Pauline Estes of Lake, Nephew: Thomas (Sallie) Herman of Lake Isabella, Great nieces and nephews: Christine (Jim) McFarlane and their daughter Maggie of Mt. Pleasant, John (Amber) Herman and their children Zachary and Hanna of Weidman, Two Uncles; Raymond Geasler of Lake and John Geasler of Canadian Lakes, two Aunts; Jean Wilson of Hudsonville and Joan Geasler of Mecosta, many cousins and beloved friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her Mother Maggie in 2007, father Martin and brother in law William Estes.

Funeral services for Ruth will be held 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the Weidman United Methodist Church with visitation at the church one hour prior from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A committal service will follow at North Brinton Cemetery. Memorial donations in Ruth's name may be given to the Weidman United Methodist Church, for Kitchen renovations.
