LOCUST HILL WOMAN BURIED

Flu and Pneumonia Brought Death to Mrs. Rhoda Duggin at 84.

Mrs. Rhoda Duggin of Locust Hill died at the home of her son, James R. Duggin, Jr., with whom she lived, about two miles southwest of Locust Hill, at 8 o'clock last Thursday morning at the age of 84, following an attack of flu and pneumonia. Funeral services were at 1 o'clock Friday afternoon by the Rev. S.E. Botsford of Edina at the son's home, and burial was in the Bowen cemetery, about five miles southwest of Locust Hill.

Mrs. Duggin, who was before her marriage, Rhoda A. Hall, was born Oct. 7, 1844, in Brown County, Illinois. She married James R. Duggin in 1868, and they came to Missouri in 1873, making their home in the vicinity of Locust Hill. Mr. Duggin died Sept. 20, 1915 [sic].

There were nine children born to Mr. and Mrs. Duggin, six of whom, two sons and four daughters, are living. They are: James R. Duggin, Jr., with whom she had lived since the death of her husband; Charles Duggin of Monroe City; Mrs. Jane Shoemaker of Gifford, Mo.; Mrs. Ellen Johnson of Erick, Okla.; Mrs. Mandy Bowen of Nickellton, Mo., and Mrs. Mary Bowen, Novelty. Mrs. Duggin is also survived by twenty-two grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and five half-sisters and three half-brothers.

Mrs. Duggin joined the LaPlata Christian Church in 1915 and later removed her membership to the Hazel Dell Church where it remained until her death.
