He and his "wee Annie" raised 7 children in West Oakland and he was a gardener for the Oakland School District. He was known to all the bookies in Oakland. He had 5 sons - Bill, Dave, George, Bob and Jim. 2 daughters, Betty (Milton) and Mary (Bartley)
