Porter Elmer Wooldridge, age 80, of Jamestown, passed away December 27, 1983, at the Russell County Hospital following a long illness. Mr. Wooldridge was a farmer and a member of the Fairview Separate Baptist Church. Born December 10, 1903, in Russell County, he was a son of James Edward and Fetna Blankenship Wooldridge.

Survivors include his wife, Nell Shearer Wooldridge; one son, Marshall Wooldridge of Russell Springs; two daughters, Maxine Garner and Mayme Helm, both of Jamestown; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Felix Wooldridge, Abner Wooldridge, and Albert Wooldridge, all of Jamestown; and one sister, Linnie Holt of Jamestown.

Mr. Wooldridge was preceded in death by a son, Elmer Wooldridge, who passed away in 1931. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, December 29, 1983, 2:00 PM at the Fairview Separate Baptist Church, with Bro. Roger Popplewell and Bro. David Blair officiating. Special music was presented by Louise Duff, organist, and the church choir.

Active pallbearers were Gary Weir, Michael Rexroat, Teddy Mann, Roger Garner, Leon Wooldridge, and Tony Mann. Honorary pallbearers were Ralph Pettyjohn, Woodrow Hadley, Jessie Wooldridge, Ronald Smith, Polarine Helm, Charles Knight, and Leroyce Melson. Interment was in the Dixon Cemetery. H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapels, Jamestown, were in charge of arrangements.
