Funeral services for Mildred Nellie Taylor, 95, of Fort Gibson, OK, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2010 at the First Baptist Church with Reverend Jeff Smith officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery under the direction of Millsap Funeral Service of Fort Gibson. Mildred Nellie Taylor was born June 9, 1915 in Braggs, OK, the daughter of Carroll Allen and Lona (Smith) Cooper and died Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Muskogee. She was one of twelve children. Mildred's early years were spent in Braggs and Fort Gibson, attending school at Oak Grove and later Fort Gibson. In 1935 she married Mike Taylor. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Fort Gibson, teaching a Sunday School class of primary age boys for many years. She also taught in Bible School for many years. She was custodian for the church and was a hard worker until her health forced her to move back to the home place. She loved serving God, helping others and preparing meals for those in need. Survivors include her four children, Tommy Taylor and wife, Marlina, of Midwest City, Gerald Taylor and wife, Linda, of Fort Gibson, Betty Smith of Claremore, Carolyn Anderson of Muskogee; grandchildren, Michael Joe Taylor, Jon Taylor, Alan Smith, Ray Cunningham, Jeff Smith, Candace Cunningham, Davy Smith, Gina Davis and Sara Parkes; four step grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, 14 step-great-grandchildren and ten step great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and her Fort Gibson Nursing Home family whom she had lived with for eight years. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother and ten sisters.
