An epidemic of influenza struck this burg about three weeks ago but at the present all cases have recovered nicely except one and community was saddened by the sudden taking of Miss Nellie Gaisford. She will be greatly missed and especially in the home. Everyone sympathizes with the family in their deep grief.
Chas. Gaisford Jr. of Oklahoma, arrived last Saturday to attend the burial of his sister Miss Nellie Gaisford, who was laid to rest in the Diller cemetery Sunday afternoon.

Obituary
Nellie Gaisford was born March 17, 1884 on the home farm south west of Ellis and departed from this life on January 2, 1919, at the age of thirty-four years nine months and sixteen days, after a few days illness of influenza and complications. She leaves to mourn her loss, her parents, Mr and Mrs Chas. Gaisford, two brothers, C. Gaisford of Oklahoma, Will Gaisford of Ellis. Six sisters, Mrs. Wm Carpenter of Odell, Mrs Harlan Weaver of Harbine, Mrs Henry Fielder, Mrs Clarence Mann, Mrs Frank Amos and Miss Mamie Gaisford all of Ellis and vicinity, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Nellie was a christian and became a member of the Ellis M E church several years ago. A kind loving disposition endeared her to everyone who knew her. On account of the illness of the relatives only a few were able to see after she had passed away.
Short services were held at the Diller cemetery, by her pastor Rev M W Pickerel Sunday afternoon and all that was mortal was laid to rest to await the coming of her Savior, whom she loved. The grief stricken relatives have the loving sympathy of all in this sad hour. She has left a vacancy in her home that can never be filled but a loving Savior can comfort those assured of her triumphant entering in the Heavenly home.
