Freeman K. Johnson, age 76, died Oct. 4, 2009 due to complications of a respiratory illness.

He was born Feb. 2, 1933 in Redmond, Utah to Clinton R. and Vera Hansen Johnson. He graduated from Richfield Utah High School in 1951. He served a mission in Uruguay, and later served in leadership positions in the LDS Church. On Jun. 26, 1956, he married Ileen Judd in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He earned a bachelors degree from Brigham Young University and advanced degrees from the University of Minnesota. He worked as a plant geneticist specializing in hybrid oil-producing sunflowers.

He is survived by his wife Ileen Judd Johnson, 9 children, 12 grandchildren and 3 siblings. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, 2 pm at the Timpview Stake Center, 1050 N 600 W, Orem, Utah. A viewing will be held Friday, Oct. 9 from 6 pm to 8pm at Berg Mortuary, 500 N State St., Orem, Utah. An additional viewing will be held Saturday at the Timpview Stake Center, one hour prior to service. Interment will be at the Orem City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to [email protected].
