Carolyn Sue Altemeier, 74, of Brooklyn, Iowa, died Friday, November 9, 2007, in her home.
Graveside services for Sue Altemeier were held 11 AM, Monday, November 12, 2007, at the Chester Cemetery, rural Grinnell, IA. Rev. John Dodds, Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, will officiated. Honorary casket-bearer will be Craig Mercer. Casket-bearers will be Brian Altemeier, Stan Altemeier Jr., Daniel Swarts, Phil Mercer, Brent Slings, and Nick Taylor.
Nevenhoven Funeral Services, Brooklyn, were in charge of arrangements.
Carolyn Sue Altemeier was born July 25, 1933, at Cabool, MO, and died Friday, November 09, 2007, at her home in Brooklyn, IA. Her parents were Theodore Sherman Ingram and Pauline Ruth Cavalier Ingram.
Sue received her education in the Newburg school and Montezuma Community School where she graduated from high school.
On January 1, 1952, Sue was married to Earl Andrew Altemeier at Bentonville, Arkansas. They were the parents of five children, Nancy, Steve, Bonnie, Stan and Christopher.
Mrs. Altemeier worked at the American Legion, Poor House and as a bookkeeper at Dickey’s Prairie Home.
Her parents; her sister, Ora Nell Ingram; a grandson, Steve Mercer; and a great grandson, Jurimiha Taylor, preceded her in death.
Surviving are her husband, Earl, of Brooklyn, IA; three sons, Steve (Marveen) Altemeier of Brooklyn, IA, Stan (Sue) Altemeier of Newton, IA, and Christopher Altemeier of Brooklyn, IA; two daughters, Nancy Evans of Brooklyn, IA, and Bonnie (Gearold) Taylor of Montezuma; one brother, Paul Ingram of Des Moines, IA; two sisters, Sammie Kilkenny of Earlham, IA and Jane Hansen of Scottsdale, AZ; nine grandchildren, Craig Mercer, Phil Mercer, Malinda Slings, Nick Taylor, Sharon Swarts, Stanley Altemeier, Jr. Brian Altemeier, Andrea Arvidson, and Ben Arvidson; nine great grandchildren, Sean Lindquist, Makayla, Lauren and Blake Slings, Dominique Taylor, Kael and Ella Swarts, Stanley Altemeier III, and Shayla Altemeier.
