Mary Anne Bjorklund Then the angel showed me the river of life-giving water, sparkling like crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb (Revelation 22:1) Mary Anne (Cavallaro) Bjorklund, 88, of Gridley, California, and Potomac, Maryland, passed from this life on June 19, 2010.

Mary was born January 31, 1922 in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Eager to help in the war effort, Mary sought a position with the FBI and received her assignment as a Linotype and offset lithographic press operator in the Washington headquarters in early 1942.

During her time in Washington, DC, Mary became engaged to Glenn Bjorklund of Bertrand, Nebraska, a soldier assigned to the Pentagon. They married on May 31, 1945, and continued to work in Washington until they moved to Richvale, California in 1948. For decades, she was the bookkeeper for the family farm.

Mary expressed her boundless creativity in drawing, painting, ceramics, and many other crafts. She was an avid collector in many genres. She did volunteer promotional work for the Gridley Chamber of Commerce, schools, and charitable fund drives and was active for many years as a member and officer of the Business and Professional Women. For some time, she was also an avid golfer, bowler, and gardener. She was spirited and enthusiastic about nearly everything she explored.

Mary truly enjoyed meeting and talking with people. She toured the US, Canada, Europe, the Mideast, and Asia. As member of the Japanese American Citizens League, she explored many aspects of Asian cultures. She was also a member of the Sacred Heart Parish in Gridley, where she applied her communications talents in leading Bible study groups. On one religious pilgrimage, she held the hand of Pope John Paul II.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Barbara Bjorklund and their son, David of Potomac, Maryland; a second grandson and his wife, Christopher and Slavina MacNamara and their sons, Michael, Andrew, and Robert, of Potomac; a brother and his wife, Lucius and Velma Jo Cavallero of Orlando, Florida; a sister, Theresa Morini of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; a sister and her husband, Anna and Charles Robert Lacy-Thompson of Walton-on-Thames, England; a sister, Elizabeth Cavallaro of Orlando, Florida; many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. All will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn and her sister, Lena Auriti.
