Andrew Bower Woodfill was born in Pennsylvania and later came to Jefferson County, Indiana.

On Ancestry.com, there is conflicting information as to who the parents of Andrew were. Several trees show his father as Gabrial Woodfill and his mother as Susannah Gudschall/Godshall. One tree shows his parents as Joseph Woodfill III, and Hannah Bower. This writer does not know which is correct.

On June 11, 1843, in Jefferson County, Indiana, Andrew married Martha Ann Hall (1823-1893) of Anne Arundel, Maryland, whose family also came to Indiana. Later, they moved to Missouri where they farmed in rural Macon County.

They had five known children. Their names and approximate birthdates, according to census records, were:

Laura Woodfill 1846-
Richard Warren Woodfill 1850-1925
Harriet Celeste "Hattie" (Woodfill) Ownbey 1851-1932
Hannah Louise/Louisa Woodfill 1854-
Corrine/Carrie Woodfill 1862-

In the 1870 census of Hudson Township of Macon County, Missouri, the Woodfill family is listed as follows: A. B. Woodfill 54, wife Martha 48, and 5 children, Laura 26, Richard 20, Hattie 18, Louisa 16, and Carrie 8.

Andrew is buried beside his wife Martha Ann Woodfill in Hopewell Cemetery. They have separate stones.
