PITTSBURG — Edgar (Ed) G. Hinde Jr., 89 of Pittsburg formerly of Independence, MO died at 7:07 a.m. Tuesday June 22, 2010 at the Via Christi Village in Pittsburg, KS.
He was born August 19, 1920 in Independence, MO the son of Edgar G. Sr. and Anna Winn (Ford) Hinde.
Ed was a lifelong resident of Independence, MO moving to Pittsburg in October in 2007 to be near family.
He was a veteran of WWII serving his country in the United States Army Air Corps from 1942 through 1946.
Ed and his wife were married on November 16, 1946 in Independence, MO; she survives at the home.
He was Postmaster of Independence, MO retiring in 75 after 34 years of service.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Independence, MO; a longtime volunteer for Bingham-Waggoner Estate Foundation and an avid wood worker.
Survivors include his wife, son and daughter-in-law, daughter and son-in-law, and his brother and sister-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
No services are planned at this time. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
