Dee was the daughter of Verald Henson and Hazel Ann "Denny" (Dennis) LaPrade. She was raised and received her education in Bartlesville, graduating from College High School with the class of 1961. She married Edward Allen Lowe in Santa Barbara, CA on July 20, 1971 and they were later divorced there in 1982.
Dee then moved back to Bartlesville and was employeed with Phillips Petroleum Co. She continued her education at Oklahoma Wesleyan College where she received a degree in Accounting. Due to failing health she ended her employment with Phillips in 1997.
Dee was very active in the Jane Phillips Sorority, working on special projects and holding several offices during her years of employment. She served on the Board of Directors of White Rose Cemetery and was active in the Bartlesville Genealogy Society. Dee converted to the Catholic faith in 2001 and was a member of St James Catholic Church in Bartlesville.
