Son of Charles Anderson Dana and Eunice MacDaniel. Married Mary Butler Duncan in 1884. Educated at Harvard Univ. and Columbia Univ. Law School. He was for 15 years Major Ordnance Officer on Staff 1st Brig. N.Y.N.G. (Brigadier-General Fitzgerald). He was at one time president of the Board of Park Commissioners of New York, he then succeeded his father as editor of The Sun. Member of the University, Harvard, Racquet, and Nassau County Golf Clubs. Resident of Glen Cove, NY.
