Captain Albert F. Sayer was a USAF Forward Air Controller assigned to the 19th Tactical Air Support Squadron at Bien Hoa AB, Vietnam.

His call sign was "Jade".

He and Captain J. J. Cappel were conducting a visual reconnaissance mission in a Cessna O-1E Birddog (tail number 56-4177) when they were shot down by automatic weapons fire two miles south of Bien Hoa. Captain Sayer died of injuries sustained in the crash; Captain Cappel was rescued.

Captain Sayer's name appears on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Washington, D.C., at panel 26E, Row 38.
