D. Ray Bryant was born July 4, 1898, the son of Judd A. and Esther C. Bryant, and passed away at his farm November 22, 1976. He was the third of thirteen children. He was united in marriage April 30, 1924 to Ruby J. Daniel of Braymer, Mo. To this union were born two sons and two daughters. He lived his entire life in the Braymer-Cowgill vicinity and worked as a minister in the Church of Christ. He was a school teacher for 23 year and a farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby, of the home, all his children, Gerald R., and Loren D. Bryant of Cowgill, and Mrs. Grace Rudd of Indepenence, MO., and Mrs. Marcia Christian of Nashville, Tenn.; four brothers, Allen, of Braymer, Loyd of Cowgill, Lawrence of Independence, and Lee of Holtville, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. Hazel McBee of Braymer, Mrs. Opal Cheezem, Mrs. Faye Davis and Mrs. Mabel Ellis, all of Kansas City, and eight grandchildren.
